The everyday mug was a blank canvas for each artist to exhibit their unique vision, from the lyrical photography of Wai Kit Lam to the dark collage-work of Ho Sing Tung; while conceptualist Magdalen Wong offers an ephemeral visual puzzle and Chow Chun Fai’s best known paintings of Hong Kong film freeze-frames, and here takes on the equally iconic symbol of a red taxi-cab.

To celebrate the grand opening of its new home store and showroom at Wong Chuk Hang and a series of exciting art events in Hong Kong, Lane Crawford invites renowned lighting artist Alex Randall, as well as Hong Kong design guru Alan Chan and iconic Chinese photographer Chen Man to join this memorable occasion with their one-of-the-kind art pieces and breathtaking photographic works.
As one of the most avant-garde contemporary artists, Alex Randall’s lighting is the combination of art and function by using modern technology and mixing different kinds of materials, such as taxidermy, to deliver her perspective to the world, as well as universal messages such as animal protection and care for the environment. All the animals she uses have been humanely selected for wildlife management in the United Kingdom, which are killed and used after their natural deaths rather than becoming meaningless waste. All her lighting art are one-of-the-kind and tailor-made, which she takes inspirations from everything around her and the skills that are abundant in the city and countryside.
