Hourglass is a unique cosmetics line that focuses on innovation from start to finish: from first-of-its-kind active ingredients to luxurious state-of-the-art packaging. Founded by long-term beauty veteran Carisa Janes in 2004, Hourglass has since grown to be an industry favourite for its groundbreaking formulas and use of cutting-edge ingredients.
Veil Mineral Primer is one of their worldwide best-selling products, recommended by beauty editors and enthusiasts, it is designed especially to extend the wear time of foundation and powder, create an even base for makeup and even eliminate redness.
Strobing has become a key beauty trend this season, which uses highlighters and illuminators to create a dewy, youthful glow. Using the power of photo luminescent technology, Hourglass’ Ambient Lighting Powders mimic different flattering light sources to create a soft-focus effect, designed to sculpt the face for a refined, natural highlight.
The Ambient Lighting Palette is a brilliant choice for on-the-go use or as an introduction to the brand. It houses three Ambient Lighting Powders - the central one exclusive to this palette - helping to mimic light sources for a universally flattering look. These ones deliver sheer colour with a soft-focus finish, beautifully buffing away skin imperfections.

Lane Crawford, Greater China’s iconic luxury department store, celebrates the Lunar New Year with a modern take on Chinese traditions. An enticing range of uniquely curated lifestyle and fashion edits, as well as gift options in store and online will inspire and delight, blessing friends and relatives with tokens of love and well wishes in the year of the monkey.
NEW ARTISTIC EXPRESSIONS
To support emerging creatives across multiple disciplines, Lane Crawford has commissioned eight contemporary artists to create unique visual installations in its Greater China stores and online flagship Lanecrawford.com. Artists Andrea Minini, Angel Chen, Desmond Leung, Hui Hoi Kiu, Huijun Guan, Mosaic Art Projects, Jan Zhou, and Yeli Gu join Lane Crawford to celebrate Chinese New Year traditions and themes through a modern, artistic perspective. Milan-based designer, Andrea Minini, known for his animal illustrations that feature textured moiré patterns, has collaborated with Lane Crawford to design a gold monkey graphic. The graphic creates an unusual intersection between natural forms and mathematics, delivering a compelling sense of motion through natural curves that highlight the shape of a monkey.

In Hong Kong, Mosaic Art Projects, led by visual artists Karen Pow and Chao Harn Kae, presents Percipient Monkey, a larger-than-life papier-mâché sculpture of a monkey that references the traditional Chinese art of paper-cutting, an expression of good wishes and hope. Hong Kong-based media artist, Desmond Leung, merges traditional and modern mediums of paint and ink with digital animations to create a new visual language. Leung’s Scatter Bloom is an LED motion installation that depicts flowers blossoming in vibrant colours to symbolise a flourishing new year. These moving images are reflected in mirrors to create a dynamic infinite effect.
In celebration of the year of the monkey, Chinese digital artist Huijun Guan has created a video installation entitled Monkey Mansion that explores Chinese elements in architecture and old Chinese idioms. Viewers peeking through the windows of the mansion will see three moving monkeys that represent the phrase, ‘See No Evil, Hear No Evil, Speak No Evil’. Hui Hoi Kiu, a recent graduate from Hong Kong Baptist University’s Visual Arts programme, presents 81 Steps to Spring, an art piece inspired by the ancient Chinese practice of counting down to spring, which begins on the first day of the winter solstice. Hui has printed 80 white tissue boxes with a blue and white porcelain pattern to represent the days leading up to the Lunar New Year and the start of the new season, with the final tissue box featuring a hand-drawn red and gold monkey pattern. Lastly, Chinese fashion designer Jan Zhou’s embossed paintings, The Yellow Peony No. 1, 2, 3 and 4, are featured at the Lane Crawford Pacific Place Home Store, bringing a touch of festive spirit through contemporary art.

Take a bold first step into the new year with splashes of festive gold and red. British luxury footwear brand, Paul Andrew, presents the Gold Collection, a worldwide exclusive collection for Lane Crawford that comprises three pairs of rare heels that are plated in 24K gold. Finished in black suede and satin, the collection is designed for “ladies for who consider ‘luxury’ a clichéd term”. Red can also be seen throughout designer handbag collections from the likes of Alexander Wang, Chloé, and Tory Burch, while Venna stands out with a statement necklace in rubies and gold chain, a modern celebration in true Chinese New Year tradition.
In a masculine take on the Lunar New Year red, footwear and accessories in subtle and sophisticated burgundy offer a dash of modernity for men. Maison Margiela’s classic burgundy leather backpack and Alexander Wang’s skull-patterned scarf in red and burgundy are sure to make an impact. Wang’s skull-printed belt also reflects a modern take on formal dressing with a hint of urban punk. A pair of versatile Common Projects lace-up shoes completes any ensemble with style and ease.

Lane Crawford, Greater China’s iconic luxury department store, presents “The Denim Room: All You Need to Know” - a specially curated denim destination showcasing Lane Crawford’s edit of top denim trends, fits, and washes. Maintaining its role as a key wardrobe essential, denim enters the Spring Summer 2016 season with refreshing new looks and innovative finishes including rip and repair patchwork, embellishments, distressing, and paint splashes. Over 30 brands and collections are now available at Lane Crawford stores and online at lanecrawford.com, including brands new to Lane Crawford such as Amiri, Cédric Charlier, R13, Rachel Comey, Rialto Jean Project, Simon Miller and Tortoise.
Lane Crawford has also commissioned Dutch artist, Guda Koster, known for her surreal fabric sculptures that decode the meaning of fashion, to design exclusive installations for The Denim Room. Her enigmatic works for Lane Crawford include groundbreaking art installations and her signature “living sculptures” crafted with denim, all of which are designed to inspire, affect, and captivate viewers.
This season, the classic dress-down essential takes an uptown turn as denim steps up as the fabric of the season. With everyone from Stella McCartney to sacai presenting unique denim jackets, shirts, dramatic maxi skirts, and one-of-a-kind jeans, the Spring Summer runways prove that denim has found new life beyond everyday jeans.
A new addition to Lane Crawford Womenswear, Belgian designer, Cédric Charlier, is championed for his architectural cuts and experimental fabrications. This season, the designer presents a modern take on urban daywear with oversized silhouettes and kimono-style dresses cut from soft denim. The Chloé girl maintains her free-spirited attitude through baggy denim tunics with raw edges, while Alexander Wang stays true to his signature downtown cool with an ensemble that matches black wide-leg denim jeans against a leather corset.
Mastering the wide leg trend with its streamlined profile, VICTORIA, VICTORIA BECKHAM introduces its broken twill denim for a refreshing change of pace. Tortoise also offers bold silhouettes distinguished by the brand’s pioneering denim washing technique, which reduces its jeans’ environmental footprint through innovative technology and practices.
General Merchandising Manager of Womenswear, Kelly Wong, shares her top tips for wearing the season’s hottest denim looks.
The New Shapes of Denim Treated Denim Seventies
Denim on Denim Oversize
Designers revolutionise the familiar this season with new technical treatments for denim, new styling directions (denim on denim), and an expanded denim range that includes jackets, shirts, and more.
Neil Barrett presents a darker indigo palette, best paired with the season’s souvenir jacket, while Valentino also offers a strong collection of denim. Beyond jeans, Riccardo Tisci’s obsession with American workwear sees a range of updated classics at Givenchy – the boiler suit, overalls, and worker pants are all reinvented with a contemporary relevance.
Perfectly lived-in denim remains an important wardrobe staple, with designers favouring distressed techniques for spring. From trusted denim specialists, Denham, R13, and Re/Done, to fashion powerhouses Givenchy and Saint Laurent Paris, denim was creatively overhauled this season with jeans being ripped, patchworked, and bleached.

Named after her grandmother, and an anagram of her name, Creative Director Serafina Sama’s burgeoning London-based label Isa Arfen is one to watch. New to Lane Crawford this season, Sama’s understanding of what real women want to wear has translated into an easy brand of polished cool.
“To me fashion is about desire, beauty and fun. It’s not about dressing up in a costume. Isa Arfen is about a real woman dressing for her real life and really enjoying it,” she said.
Her first Resort 2016 collection is a capsule wardrobe of holiday clothes that brings the glamorous and slightly eccentric woman escaping the winter cold and running off to the Caribbean. Featuring relaxed oversize white shirt, updated with multicolour crystal buttons, or the high-waist trousers and shorts, cut in silk cotton faille in gemstone colours. Party dresses are cut in colour blocked cotton poplin, for fun, ultra-feminine, humorous and not-too-precious sense of evening glamour.
Isa Arfen is now exclusively available at Lane Crawford ifc mall, Lane Crawford Canton Road and online at lanecrawford.com.
