Etro Limited Edition Throw

Etro is synonymous with style. It is a lifestyle based upon quality and sophistication, not only in terms of design, but also regarding materials and production techniques.  This universe of elegance derives from Gimmo Etro’s innate passion for travel and history, which has now become the leitmotif of all the lines of the fashion house.

For the Lane Crawford Heritage Collection, Etro has specially created a limited edition throw in two colours in the highest quality of wool and silk. Limited edition of 22 pieces.

The Feminine Touch

l t t

Last week we showcased the three sexy trenchcoats from the Heritage 160 Colleciton (learn more about the program here:http://www.lanecrawford.com/heritage160), and this week we have the three trenchcoats that radiates with femininity. These three trenchcoats are poetically romantic in their own ways and one can easily recognize the soft touches that the artists have made to the trenchcoats.

Taylor Tomasi Hill

Taylor Tomasi Hill is the Style and Accessories Director for US Marie Claire. Hill started her first internship at W Magazine’s accessories department and became the Fashion Market Editor for the magazine, which helped her to develop and build her knowledge in the industry. Hill then left her work at W Magazine and became the Senior Fashion Editor at Teen Vogue before joining Marie Claire. Thinking about what she will want to wear herself, Taylor Tomasi Hill decides that she would “mix something very feminine and sexy with something more masculine and hard.” After creating a leather-trimmed corset, she takes it to a tailor to be fitted close to the body, then hands it over to her regular dyer to turn it into a chestnut brown with olive undertones. Then she adorns the trench coat with silver and gold crosses, which are donated by her friend and jewellery designer, Dana Lorenz. The corset gives the trench coat a feminine silhouette, but the colour, eyelets, and crosses toughens it up.

Topshop

Topshop is a major style authority and one of the biggest success stories in the high street fashion world. Founded in the UK in 1964, it is affordable style with a brave and irreverent approach to fashion that has made it the number one high street shop for style conscious shoppers and industry insiders alike. For the trench coat, Topshop deconstructs the original Burberry trench coat, reserving only the key traditional and functional elements: the storm flaps, the epaulettes, the wrist straps and trims, then rebuilds the actual structure of the coat around these elements. Relating the design and creative process back to Topshop’s current trends, the stylish team covers the trench coat with a layer of romantic nude gauze and hand-applied over 7,000 sparkling crystals on the top. The creation is essentially Topshop, “we wanted to staytrue to the Topshop brand: young, directional and wearable.”

Lynn Yaeger

Lynn Yaeger, a veteran fashion reporter for The Village Voice, and now a regular contributor for The New York Times, Vogue, and Travel & Leisure, she has a strong personal identity and is known for her eccentric personal style, powdered face, and dark, cupid's-bow lipstick. Yaeger also won first place in the National Society of Newspaper Columnists ‘humour writing for newspapers’ with more than 100,000 circulations’ category in 2008. With the belief that anything can turn a tutu, Lynn Yaeger calls this piece the “ballet dancer trench coat” and has bring together all three of her favourite things: tulle, pink, and tutus. With layering of cotton-candy pink, white, and brown tulle onto the trench coat, Yaeger’s version is with no question the sweetest trench coat of the collection. The way the romantic tulle layers flares out at the bottom can easily turn anyone who wears it into a true ballerina.

Heritage 160 - The 'Sexy' Trenchcoats

Lane Crawford’s Heritage 160 program is the current talk of the town! With a flow of media coverage both locally and internationally, it is hard to have missed this hot topic (if you really did, you can learn more about it here: www.lanecrawford.com/heritage160). Introducing Hong Kong to the best and most innovative in fashion, style and design from around the world, Lane Crawford has invited a group of creatives to ‘curate’ exclusive one-of-a-kind customised trenches in celebration of their anniversary. Paying exclusive tribute to a classic fashion staple – the Burberry trench coat – Lane Crawford collaborates with 23 top fashion and style influencers of today, and here today we bring you the ‘sexiest’ 3 trench coats from the collection.

Kate Lanphear

With her signature platinum blonde hair, boyish look, and a stylish wardrobe of black, white, and grey, Kate Lanphear has a cult-following of fashion bloggers around the globe with her casual-chic style. Lanphear has held posts at Vogue Australia as well as Harper’s Bazaar, and is now the Style Director of US Elle. Holding true to the subversive nature of the trench coat, Kate Lanphear transforms the trench coat into a full-body ‘French tickler’, or in her words “a full-body sex toy basically.” The latex ‘ticklers’ are all hand-rolled and attached in the exact pattern of the Burberry check lining.  Each of the buttons on the trench coat has been engraved with an erotic image. It can also be worn inside-out as a latex fringe cape for that playful side of you.

Jonathan Adler

Jonathan Adler is a furniture designer as well as a potter, best known for his signature use of vibrant colours and eye-popping patterns. His work includes interior design and his home design line, Jonathan Adler Happy Home, which includes pottery, furniture, textiles, lighting, and home accessories. “Trench coats are all about flashers.” Jonathan Adler, inspired by the audacious association of trench coat and nudity, has spiced up the classic Burberry trench coat into a surreal and sexy number. Taking the Luciana vase from his own pottery collection, which is an important part of his heritage, Adler throws on the Burberry trench coat and begins tucking and pinning away before taking the leap of cutting up the coat and starting to sculpt it to the vase.

Keegan Singh

Keegan Singh is currently one of the most sought-after stylists in the fashion industry. Singh is known for his sleek, rock n’ roll aesthetic, and has done editorial work for Vogue, Teen Vogue, Love, Purple, Interview, and many more. The muses for Keegan Singh’s trench coat are Vogue’s Tonne Goodman and Grace Coddington, who urged him to use faux fur and recommended the luxury toy company, Steiff, which specializes in producing high-end teddy bears.  He customises the trench coat by covering the entire coat with the thick layer of black faux fur provided by Steiff. All of the original Burberry buttons are then replaced with one-of-a-kind silver buttons engraved with his initials “KS’, which are provided by jeweller Eddie Borgo.

Dynasty Revival

Focused on introducing Hong Kong to the best and most innovative in fashion, style and design from around the world, Lane Crawford has invited a group of creatives to 'curate' exclusive items in celebration of our 160th anniversary.

Honouring Lane Crawford’s rich history and roots, the antique Chinese Ming chair — traditionally reserved for people of power, strength and status in China — is given modern makeovers by creative design visionaries, Tom Dixon, Fornasetti, Guangci, Jaime Hayón, Ilse Crawford, D.B. Kim for Swarovski Crystal Palace, Squint and Michael Young, transforming the traditional chair into one-of-a-kind contemporary works of art.

To share these special limited edition and one-of-a-kind pieces, they will be showcased at an exclusive exhibition at Lane Crawford’s ifc mall flagship store in September 2010.  The comprehensive project will incorporate a new multi-media platform including an interactive, world-contributed microsite, as well as an auction with proceeds benefiting UNICEF, the only UN organisation dedicated exclusively to children.
