The ironic ingenuity of Alexander McQueen was, somewhat hauntingly encapsulated in his last works. Always bursting with emotional power and raw energy, his final show was a grand, glorious, gilded tribute to the rich tapestries, layered intricacies and handmade craftsmanship of decades past. Inspired by Byzantine art, the carvings of Grinling Gibbons, Old master paintings and religious relics, each majestic piece is brimming with masterful perfection, dramatic artistry and beautiful classicism.  All patterns were cut on the stand by Alexander McQueen. Each piece is unique, as was he.

The Alexander McQueen Autumn/Winter 2010 collection – the final one envisioned and handcrafted by the couture world’s much-beloved “enfant terrible” – is a fitting tribute to the purity and exquisiteness of classic romanticism.
